Mint Polish - Bellini Babe Swatches & Review Go Pink Wednesday!

Afternoon dolls! I've got a few posts for you today but here's the first! Today's the last installment of Go Pink Wednesday (sad panda face) and it's also Halloween! HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!! A huge thank you to the lovely Andrea from Finger Painting Fingers for organizing this so well!

For today's Go Pink Wednesday, I have a review of a great polish line called Mint. Off the bat, I love the name and the story behind it is fantastic! Greta, the lovely lady behind Mint got started after she discovered that you couldn't just throw nail polish away with the rest of the trash in Los Angeles. Why? Because they are considered hazardous waste products (insert shriek)! So Greta went about to create a polish line of long lasting nail lacquer to improve shine, durability and application!

The polish I have for you today is called Bellini Babe

"This sophisticated sparkling peach was inspired by our brunch beverage of choice - the bellini of course! Bellini Babe is the perfect sparkling nude nail color - slightly sheer and very shimmery. The undertones are a mixture of pink and peach, this color truly flatters all skin tones."

They were not lying when they said flattering on every skin tone (especially mine LOL)! I am in love with this color and the gorgeous silver shimmer peaking through. For these photo's, I used three thin coats. At first Bellini Babe was a little bit thick, but after a vigorous roll, NOT SHAKE, the consistency evened out flawlessly.

I was really afraid that the shimmer wouldn't transfer from the bottle, but boyyyyyyyyyy was I wrong. Even in the shade, this polish had a gorgeous glint to it that would look great summer or fall.

DAT SHIMMER.

Overall I am extremely pleased with this polish and it glided it's was onto my top 10 for 2012.

Mint Polish is available for purchase at their site Mint Polish Collections for $10 a piece. They also offer free shipping with orders over $25 using the code "FREESHIP25".

Be sure to check out everyone's last installment for Go Pink Wednesday!

8 Spooky Nights Day 6: Spiders!!

Hello hello hello! Today is Day 6 of the 8 Spooky Nights nail art challenge and the theme is spiders -- eeeeeeeekkkk! I am absolutely terrified of spiders.

No lie I have done some dangerous, once in a life time kind of things to avoid a spider. So for this mani, while I wanted to be traditional and have a spider I wanted to do something different as well :) Let's get to it!

L-R: Nina Ultra Pro Black, Dazzle Dry Portia's Wit, Dazzle Dry Joan's Armor, Zoya Song, and Milani Just Grayt

I started off with a base of Song on my pointer, Joan's Armor on my middle, and Portia's Wit on my pinky. Then to my ring finger, I sponged a gradient of Joan's Armor, Song, and Portia's Wit to look like a day ending which is when I feel like all the spiders wanna come out and play *ick*.

Now, for my middle finger I wanted to do a technique I've been seeing all over the blogosphere lately: the sugar spun mani! What do spiders do? Spin webs *har har har* It's super easy but takes a little time as you have to wait for the polish to get thicker. I dropped a few drops of Just Grayt onto a plastic CD case and stirred it a bit with a toothpick. Blowing on it also helps thicken quicker. Then when you can stir it and a line connects, lift the toothpick out slowly and drag it quickly across your nails to create this cool effect!

After the first coat dried, I went over the grey with Portia's Wit and let it dry! This design is lumpy so I chose to show you both versions of how it turns out! The first two pictures show the spider web without a topcoat in all of it's 3D glory. These next two pictures show it with one coat of China Glaze Fast Forward which looks just as cool in my opinion!

To finish up I used my black striper to draw a spider on my pointer and him with his web on my pinky!

Super cute and easy which is my kind of art! Have you tried any of these techniques before? Be sure to check out the other ladies of 8 Spooky Nights!

8 Spooky Nights Day 5: Witches

Evening dolls! Late night post here for you, but I'm finally caught up with the challenge so I feel better :) Day 5 brings us to witches, and we're more than halfway through the challenge! Halloween is RIGHT around the corner and I'm super excited!

For this mani I used:
OPI Berlin There Done That
China Glaze Ingrid
China Glaze Champagne Bubbles
Enchated Polish Witchful Thinking
Nina Ultra Pro Black
Sinful Colors Amethyst
NYX Pure Green

I used Pure Green for the base on my pointer finger and drew a witches hat with a black nail art pen. For the ribbon, I drew a thin line with Amethyst and added a square silver rhinestone as the buckle! For the base of the broom, I used Berlin There Done That and drew the broom with Ingrid and Champagne Bubbles.

I decided to do a little play on words with my ring finger and use another GORGEOUS Halloween indie polish from Enchanted Polish. Witchful Thinking is a pink, brown and gold glitter packed top coat that I layered over one coat of Nina Ultra Pro Black. Finally, for the cauldron, I used my black nail art pen again and dotted on Berlin There Done That to make it look like some smoke was coming out!

That's it for Day 5!!! Monday starts 6 and I'm super excited! I hope you're enjoying these Halloween themed manis so far. What's your favorite Halloween nail art?

Check out the other ladies of 8 Spooky Nights!

Go Pink Wednesday (Friday?) Week 4 - China Glaze Seduce Me - Swatches

Hi lovelies! I'm a fail of a blogger this week, I'm finally getting around to posting my Go Pink Wednesday Friday. Thankfully, things in life have relatively settled so I can get back to blogging! Today I'll be showing my ABSOLUTE favorite color in the entire world. I love love LOVE a dark, dusty pink/rose and China Glaze does not disappoint with this!

Seduce Me is a deep berry cream that glides on like a dream! I got full opacity in one normal coat and if that isn't amazing I don't know what is.

Sigh, she's beautiful and I never want to take her off ever.

That's all for this week! I'll be posting actually on Wednesday next week for our last Go Pink Wednesday. Can you believe October is almost over already?!

Be sure to check out the other lovely ladies of Go Pink Wednesday!

8 Spooky Nights Day's 1-4: Skulls, Vamipres, Candy & Ghosts

Hi dolls! Sorry I've been so MIA lately, I've been dealing with some pretty big issues on the home front and blogging just wasn't a priority. But I'm back and it's time for another nail art challenge! Well it started a few days ago, and I've done my nails for each day I just haven't had the motivation to type a post up so you get the first 4 days in one, and a separate post later today with Day 5!

I'm super excited to be participating in the 8 Spooky Nights nail art challenge hosted by my good friend Kelly from Peace Love Lacquer because this is my absolute favorite holiday. Today, tomorrow and next week I'll be showing you guys some of my nail art from my favorite season!

Day 1: Skulls

For skulls, I didn't want to do typical skelton or Jack Skellington so I chose to do Sugar Skulls! I'm obsessed with the whole sugar skull theme so it was perfect! These came out alright, although they weren't what I pictured in my head. For this mani I used China Glaze Bizarre Blurple, China Glaze Rougish Red and Dazzle Dry Portia's Wit (aka my new favorite white). The nose is a small upside down glitter heart that I got for review from Dahlia over at datyorkLOVES which went perfectly!

Day 2: Vampires

For day 2 I just went really really simple. Honestly, I didn't even take a good picture of this one. It's your typical crappy camera phone pic only because this way a bad day for me and even nail polish couldn't get me out of my funk (shocking right?). For this mani, I used OPI Berlin There Done That on my pointer, Dazzle Dry Portia's Wit as the vamp's skin with Nina Ultra Pro Black for his hair and teeth. On my ring finger I picked up my NYX Dark Glitter which was a great black jelly packed with red hex glitters and for the blood drip I chose Milani Rapid Cherry and again the Nina Ultra Pro Black.

Day 3: Candy

Day 3 makes me hungry just thinking about it. I have a severe sweet tooth and I live for the time when candy corn, candy apples and pumpkin everything to come out and then hoard it until Christmas LOL. I decided to go with my two favorite candy's -- candy corn and Hershey's Kisses! Used this mani: Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Mellow Yellow, China Glaze Rougish Red, Wet n Wild French White Creme, OPI Berlin There Done That, Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Celeb City and a white nail art pen.

Day 4: Ghosts

Day 4 has been my absolute favorite day from the challenge BY FAR and I am absolutely thrilled with the way these turned out. I wanted to do a little play on words and include a gorgeous Halloween indie I picked up earlier this month. So introducing, Mr. and Mrs. Boo! I decided to make a husband and wife ghost and put accents of Lacquerhead Polish's My Boo, a gorgeous white creme with orange and black hexes, and some black and purple glitters for a gorgeous finish. I used a white nail art pen for the ghosts, Zoya Aurora for Mrs. Boo's bow and Nina Ultra Pro Black for Mr. Boo's hat and ta-da!!! SOOO happy with these I didn't even want to take them off!

I'll have Day 5 up later today, but while you're waiting be sure to go back and check out the designs from the other ladies participating!!

Go Pink Wednesday! Zoya Aurora from the Ornate Collection

Hi dolls! Hope your week is going well, slow going here. We've reached another Go Pink Wednesday and I'm super excited to show you this polish. Unfortunately I'm not really feeling that great so this is going to be a shorter post than usual.

For this mani, I decided to use one of the new polishes from Zoya's Ornate Collection that I bought during their pre-order. Zoya Aurora is a D-R-E-A-M! I can go on and on about how flawless the application is, but that's typical with Zoya. Zoya describes Aurora as a "full coverage, medium sugarplum purple flecked with a high concentration of micro fine diamond holographic glitter."

Hold. The. Phone. Holos? For reals? Swoon. I know this is Pink Wednesday and the reason I chose to use this because in the light Aurora has pink flashes that I think make it even more special. Let's let the pictures do the talking shall we?

So. Much. Holo. Goodness. Do you see that gorgeous pink sparkle?! Holy crap I just had to pick my jaw up off the floor. I hope you enjoyed reading this post as much as I enjoyed doing my nails for it!

Are you planning on grabbing any polishes from the new Zoya Ornate Collection? If so, which ones?!

Be sure to check out the other lovely ladies, as usual, participating in Go Pink Wednesday!

September Favorites!

Hi dolls! Happy Saturday!! After this week, I couldn't be more excited for the weekend. And Florida is having a "cold front" which means instead of 90 degrees, we're in the low 80s/high 70 which is P-E-R-F-E-C-T to *hopefully* transition into fall. I've got a monthly favorites post for you today! I kinda forgot about the past few months so I'll have a few in here that I've been loving all summer long.

If you follow me on Instgram (if not you should! -- @collegpolished) then you might have seen my little teaser pic I posted yesterday! Let's get started!!

First up we've got my favorite nail polishes/looks from the past month! I'll be the first to admit, I am OBSESSED with all things Halloween. So when all these gorgeous indies started to come out with Halloween glitter bombs and colors I knew my stash was going to explode.

What's This, What's This? and This is Halloween are part of the Dollish Polish 'This is Halloween' collection based off my favorite movie ever -- The Nightmare Before Christmas! I was super ecstatic to get my hands on these babies, especially because they went SO fast. Even though Dolly restocked every day I couldn't manage to get my hands on Spectral Pup *sad face* but maybe it'll show up in a blog sale or something! I'll have swatches of these babies on the blog next week!

Next, we've got another LE Halloween or should I say the Falloween collection from Enchated Polish. The lovely Thea from Munchy's Nails is my personal polish fairy. Literally, the girl sends me THE best nail mail and always includes the most delicious chocolates! Thank you so much Thea I can't wait to swatch these. They'll also be on the blog next week, which if you couldn't tell by now will be a Halloween themed week to prepare for the Halloween Nail Art Challenge!

L-R: Dexter, Finger Lickin' Good, Witchful Thinking, Pumpkin Gutz, and Igor

Up next I've got my top three favorite manis from the past month. During the month of September, I created a Falling Forward Nail Art challenge to really push myself and expand my capabilities. I have to say I'm really proud of myself (and all the girls who joined) in the visible progress I saw! This was for leaves day and I'm so impressed with myself for my leaf pile ^.^ You can see the full post here as well as the rest of the challenge!

Sunny from 365 Days of Color sent me some of her Hocus Pocus colletion to review and my heart stopped with this color! Boouk! is a gorgeous neutral with glitter (whaaa?!) and you can see my full review here.

Lastly, I had the opportunity to do a guest post for the wonderful Chelsea over at The Nail Network that showed off my love of all things girly! Be sure to head over and check that out here.

Lastly, my favorite nail product from the past month (of all time probably) is another baby from Sunny at 365 Days of Color. Sunny's cuticle oil is theeeeeee sh!t, no lie. There isn't any oily residue and it sinks in IMMEDIATELY. Not only have my cuticles become a lot softer and more managable but the scent sticks around for a long time! Currently I'm wearing pumpkin vanilla and I just wanna eat my fingers! You can check out Sunny's full line of scents here on her site (over 120!) where you can pick up a pack of 3 samplers for $6.00 or a full sized for $4.00! She also sells them in balm form too which I've got as well and they're perfect to toss in your purse for on the go!

I also picked up some craft scissors during one of Michael's many sales during September. I love the Victorian theme and I can't wait to try out some beautiful tape manis with these!

Now on to the jewelery! I actually picked this watch up at my local Plato's Closet after seeing it in Forever 21 but passing on it! And for $6 instead of $22? That's a College Polished kinda deal ;). It's gorgeous and goes with literally every outfit!

Next, this bracelet is from Forever 21! I'm obsessed with the simplicity, yet stunning quality of it. I love how the gold chains have little stones in them, but that it isn't all metal! Also I can get double use out of it as an ankle bracelet and I'm a girl who likes multi-functionality!

Now this ring I got back in June (?) I think but I hadn't found the right time to wear it. I've been rockin' it a ton lately with more neutral colored tops and jeans for the fall and I love it! I think I picked this up at Icing for less than $15. Totally cute and super affordable!

Last, but certainly not least I am a HUUUUUUUUGE sucker for fall scents. Pumpkin on pumpkin on caramel apple and I'm a happy girl. The warm apple cider hand sanitizer is from Bath and Body Works and it smells soooo good. No overpowering chemical scent and it lingers for hours. I believe they're still on sale for 5 for $5! Yankee Candle is known for it's kick ass variety of scents and this one doesn't disappoint. Caramel pecan pie is by far the best smelling candle I've ever bought and it fills the entire house. Even Mr. CP said he really likes the smell of it which is unusual :p.

And a few random favorites:

Favorite Blog:
Whitney from Dressed Up Nails has some SERIOUS nail art skillz. I literally just stumbled across this blog a week or two ago, but I can honestly admit I was FLOORED! She did a ridiculously good tape mani that I cannot wait to recreate! Not sure why this girl doesn't have more of a following but you all need to run over to blog and check her out ASAP!

Favorite Song

Rihanna - Breakin' Dishes
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=79ColY1oIaU
Not new my any means, but this definitely was my anthem the entire month of September!

Whew! Quite a few favorites for this month! I hope you girls enjoy this post as much as I enjoyed writing it. What were some of your September favorites?! Beauty related or not, I'd love to hear them so be sure to comment below!
